Click the 'File' menu in the top left of the Outlook window, then click 'Data File Management' on the context menu that appears.. This should open a new window titled 'Account Settings'. In the Data Files tab, select the personal folder you wish to close, then click the 'Remove' icon.

From the navigation page first right click on the folder you want to close. This should be the name you gave the personal file you are trying to close. A drop down list should appear. On the drop down list click on close"the name of the file". This should close the folder.

Go to the navigation page and right click on the folder you want to close. Now you will get a drop down menu and click on close "the name of the file". This is how you can close a personal folder in outlook.

To close a personal folder, just click on another folder such as Inbox and the previous folder will close. To re-open, click on the personal folder again.

Highlight the folder you want to close, then right click the folder, then pick the close option. If you want to rename or move the folder after that, you will need to close Outlook as it will still have a connection to it. When you restart Outlook, the folder will be gone.

Alt + Ctrl + Del will bring you up Windows Security, click on the Task Manager, then select Oulook on the Applications tab and then click on End Task. This should work.
