Why does Outlook keep crashing on start up?

What can I do to stop this and actually use it?

This might be instigated by malware on start-up as well. A lot of malware loads firster than any other programs load. Try cleaning your Computer from Malware - try using malwarebyte - it's free. Further, if the problem persists, try uninstalling and re-installing Outlook and/or Microsoft Office Suite, that includes Outlook by default.

Your profile is likely corrupt. Copy down all the information from your profile, then delete the profile. Add a new profile, and populate it with the information from your old profile. Start up Outlook, and 95% of the time, this takes care of the problem. If it doesn't, it might be a problem with your data file.

The first problem you could have is a Virus Infection, get an up-to-date antivirus software and check your system. Also you could be having too many mails in your inbox, the maximum is 2Gb. Try creating folders and then moving there your old messages, I would recommend to use One Folder Per Year and one Subfolder per each Month.

You may need to delete your mailboxes to see if it's a problem with corrupted mail. In Vista or windows 7 you can check in the Problems and Solutions manager what kind of error it may generate when it crashes. Also take note of any errors it may give you and do a google search on it.

Your Outlook profile is probably corrupted. The only way to fix it is to delete your old profile and create a new one. Search on Microsoft's website for a fix.

Outlook does weird things. Mine got the hiccups when I used the notes feature. You can use other programs. For example, there are a number of open source "PIM" (Personal Information Manager) options that won't cost money and that are every bit as good or better than Outlook. You can even import your Outlook info on something like EssentialPIM.

Your Microsoft Outlook might be crashing on start up due to a virus or a corruption in files. Usually when something crashes with a software program, there is a virus, or something the software is reading incorrectly and/or does not like. You should have a qualifier technician look at your computer.
