White gold jewelry can be cleaned once a month with a solution of equal parts of water and ammonia. Place the jewelry in a bowl containing the solution and let it soak for 10 to 20 minutes. Rinse the pieces with warm water and buff them dry. Ask a Jeweler how to clean pieces with gemstone or pearls.

A gentle store-bought jewelry cleaner will work, but I use a mixture of equal parts ammonia and warm water (something my grandmother taught me). DO NOT use the ammonia mixture if your jewelry has opals in it--the solution can damage them. Also, a jeweler can rerhodium the jewelry so that it once again looks shiny and bright.
