The gold part of the ring can be cleaned using a soft-bristled toothbrush dipped into some common household ammonia-based cleaner. Be careful to avoid the stone as much as possible. The opal itself should be cleaned with a bit of mild dish soap in warm water and a soft, clean cloth.

Use a firm toothbrush and toothpaste to get almost all jewerly clean. Run the item under warm water and add a small amount of tootpaste and start rubbing in curcular motions. Use the toothbrush to get in hard to reach corners of the ring.
