How do you check diagnostic codes on a 95 Mazda Protege?

You'll need a scan tool that can read OBD codes; the much more standardized OBDII came out in 96. Best thing to do is take it to a Mazda dealership.

hook up a OBDII scanner to your protege, and it will check them for you and translate them, All garage shops are equip with these scanners.
