The first thing you must do is go to your local social security office and fill out a form to change your name. After you have success with this, then you must change your name on your license/i.d., your bills, credit cards etc. by contacting each organization induvidually.

It is automatic. To have it changed on your license or bank accounts, you usually have to show a marriage license. For most companies like credit cards, just call and let them know.
