How do you change a nose stud?

How long should I wait, and do I need to go to a professional to change it?

The first time you change any piercing you should go to your piercing artist if you have any concerns on when or how to change the jewelry. This is really important for any highly sensitive areas such as your nose, mouth, nipples, or genitals. They can also help you get the correct type of jewelry to wear.

You can go to a professional to see how it's done, but they will likely charge you. You just gently pull it out, after the wound has healed more or less and put the new disinfected stud in, it's really that simple.

You can easily change out the nose stud yourself once the piercing is completely healed. The piercing will take a month or more to heal. In the shower, lather soap onto your nose, twist the stud around to pass soap through the piercing, then rinse off the soap with warm-water.

Regular nose piercings take 1-2 months to heal. Don't change the jewellery before then. Once it's healed, you can change the jewellery on your own.
