How do you change a birth certificate?

The birth certificate is not changed. Name changes must be done through the courts, and then the proper authorities notified (Social Security, etc.) A family law attorney can handle the paperwork and filing for $300-500, depending on where you live.

You will probably need an attorney because the birth certificate is a legal paper. Your lawyer can tell you what you need to do.
