This type of macaw requires a higher fat diet than other types of macaws.They eat alot of macadamia nuts which are the main staple in their diet. Pellet diets are not good for this bird. Due to high protein which can cause kidney failure. Food and water should be provided at all times. They like fresh fruit and vegetables. Water should be changed daily.
