While this varies from state to state you will at least need to make your primary residence within the state. This can be rented or owned but you will need to reside in the state for at least 50% of the year. Additionally, many states require you to put state tags on your primary vehicle to become a resident.

Requirements vary from state to state. Usually, residence in the state, a state driver's license, paying state taxes and voter registration are key. For the purposes of tuition payment at a state school, the qualifications are much more stringent and are set by the school.

State requirements vary. You'll need to have a primary street address in the state to have state residency, and you'll have to have lived in that state for a particular amount of time (e. g. , 6 months).

In most American states it is very easy to become a resident of the state that you live in. Often, all you have to do is either acquire a drivers license for that state, register to vote or buy property in that state to be considered a resident of that state.
