You can activate it on-line. When Windows proms you choose activate on-line, let it do is thing and it should do it automatically if you have a valid product key. If you can't or don't have internet you can also activate it thought phone, it should provide you with the customer service number.

If you can't activate XP via your internet connection, try to activate it via phone. Click on the Start button, then 'All Programs' and 'Accessories'. Open 'Admininistrative Tools' and choose 'Activate Windows'. There you'll find the option which let's you to activate the Windows by a phone call to Microsoft.

You can activate your Windows account via internet by clicking the Start Icon at the bottom left of your desktop. Then go to All Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools, then Windows Activation. There is a step by step menu after this to activate your Windows account.

YOu can activate your XP by internet o calling an automatic number. You can do it going in start -> Activate Windows; so you can choose internet or phone activation
