How do I write a thank you note for a monetary gift for our wedding?

Do not reference the dollar amount given. Simply state, "Thank you very much for your generous gift. It is greatly appreciated. And thank you for attending our wedding. " You could also add a note on what you used the money for, be it toward the honeymoon or setting up the household.

It's generally considered proper to not mention the amount in the thank-you note. Simply say "Thank you very much for your generous gift. It is very appreciated! We plan to use it for *fill in what you'll spend it on*. " Then thank them for attending the wedding.

Just as you would for any other gift, thank the giver and express your gratitude and appreciation. You might also mention what you and your spouse plan to do with the money. The person who gave you the money would probably like to know how you plan to use the money.
