Once you locate the volume control, don't think that louder is automatically better. Adjust the volume control accordingly. You could also try adjusting the level of modulation. Increasing the modulation is trial and error. It also helps to have someone on the other end to work with you during the adjustment.

Find the power and volume knob on the front panel of your radio and then ajust the volume knob to your liking.
