Check underneath the Yukon. If there are red liquid dripping underneath the front of the engine your car may be having a power steering pump leak. Replace immediately

If you have no power assist, then it could be a bad steering gear. First make sure that the fluid level is proper and that the belt is tight. If you lost assist at first when cold or at start up, then it is very likely the gear.

First, check for leaks. 90% of leaks come from the high pressure hose or rack. Check by doing a thorough steam cleaning of the underhood of the car, then top off the fluid. Start the engine, turn the steering wheel all the way to each side twice. This should be enough to provoke the source of the leak.
