A migraine with aura can be treated with over-the-counter pain relievers (like acetaminophen and ibuprofen), prescription medications such as triptans (like Imitrex and Zomig), ergots (like DHE 45), and anti-nausea medicine (only if nausea is a symptom with the pain).

You can try a vasodialator such as asprin to increase bloodflow. Or you can get a prescription for oxygen if that is the problem.

If over the counter medicines are not helping with your headaches or you experience them on a regular basis you should consult your doctor. The doctor will ask you questions about your symptoms and what triggers your headaches to properly diagnose what type of headache you are experiencing (migraine, tension) and what medicine is best for it.

Have you tried a over the counter medication? This is something you might want to talk with your doctor about and see what they want you to do?
