Call the local or regional office of the Bar Association in your state to get referrals to attorneys who specialize in malpractice. Your case will be reviewed by someone with medical expertise, and then it will be determined if indeed malpractice is an issue. If so, you will be made aware of the options.

In most states, you can only sue for medical malpractice for a botched inguinal hernia surgery if you can findanother surgeon willing to provide an opinion that your doctor's performance failed to meet minimum acceptable standards in that jurisdiction.

First I would hire an attorney. I would notify the doctor of my intentions but not giving him much detail. Then I would write down everything that happened regardless of whether I thought it was relevant or not.

You will need to talk to a lawyer, the lawyer can tell you if you have a case. You will have to find a malpractice one. One who specializes in that kind of cases. You should only talk to one and see if you have a case, find a lawyer.
