car repairs

Question by  mars1511 (1)

How do I replace the water temperature sender in a 1995 Volvo 960?

The fan kicks on for no reason, even when the car is off and runs till it drains my battery.

Most repairs involving sensors are costly. You'll need a level for this sensor. I would suggest just pulling out the fuse each time you kill your car for a quick-fix.

You are going to want to take the battery off before you start doing anything. If you do not you can cause serious injury to yourself. You are going to find the sender near the radiator and fan and should be held in with 3 bolts.

It sounds like you have a wire cross, or your fan is run off of a wire that is always hot, for instance your battery directly. Id check and make sure you needed to replace the sensor, that doesnt sound like the problem at hand, if it were the reason, your fan wouldnt turn on.

First get level for sensor. Take battery off before starting. It should be located near the radiator and fan held with 3 bolts. If help is still needed consult a professional mechanic or dealer about this problem.
