How do I repair an A/C unit with a tripped breaker?

Your problem could be as simple as a bad breaker. Turn the thermostat off and reset the breaker. Then try to restart your A/C unit. If it trips again, try replacing it, if your skills permit. If it still trips, call a qualified service company and they can do some trouble shooting to determine the cause of your problem.

If resetting the breaker, which I'm guessing you did a number of times, doesn't fix the problem, then either there is a bad compressor, bad motor, or short in wiring. You should call a service person.

If you are wanting to repair this A/C unit then you will need to probably get another fuse on it.
