Remove the belt first. Then, behind the tensioner is a set of bolts to remove it. Look at the bolts to make sure not to unload the tension spring.

The best way to remove the belt tension setting on the vehicle is to take the adjustment bolt out and simply take it off.

The year of the vehicle will make minor differences however you will need to remove any components obstructing the use of a socket with ratchet and extension going directly to the tensioner. With the items removed and the belt off the tensioner will unbolt from the block by the center bolt or attached bracket.

First take out bolt holding tensioner and then put new tensioner on with same bolt. Then the only thing left to do is to add the belt.

WEl in most cases all you have to do is unbolt the tensioner arm base from the block. It should be done very carefully because of the tension still on the belt.
