You can go to a library or book store and look up the value of your 5. 00 bill in a price guide for collecting American Currency. Generally this will be in the coin collecting area. You will need the bill's date and the small letter after the date.

There are many places to research older bills. One is on the internet. Search on ebay. Go to coin shops. Read a Kelly Currency book.

If you are looking for the value of a five dollar bill with a blue seal it is actually a silver certificate which would have been issued before 1960. This type of bill is worth its face value.
