It's best to follow the manufactorors' advice on the mileage as to when. The timing belt will give no warning before it breaks. It will just break one day even if you think it is fine. On certain vehicles it can last as much as 80,000 miles.

It will vary based on what kind of belt you have. Certain newer belt are gauged by how worn the groves are. Check the depth of the grooves with a specific tool for the job. If your vehicle has the older style belt the manufacture will have a guide on when to replace it. It usually consists of counting cracks.

Find the car manual. It is clearly written there. If it's missing see the odometer. Read the total distance your car made. Generally, a timing belt must be replaced every 75,000 to 100,000 kilometers or maximum of 60,000 miles. Better yet ask the manufacturer for the recommended replacement period.

This depends on the car. Most vehicle manufacturers recommend replacement anywhere between 60-90K miles. There are no warning signs for a timing belt about to break and breakage of a timing belt my result in severe engine damage due to vehicle jumping time.

You need to follow your dealers recommendation or play it safe and replace it if it has more than 60k on it. Your engine can be destroyed if you don't.
