How do I know if my guinea pig is in labor?

Guinea pigs almost never give birth during daytime hours,they prefer cooler temps and quiet. Your guinea will not move more than absolutely necessary and will not make any noises, as apposed to a usual constant chittering. DO NOT HANDLE the pups for 3 to 5 days,nursing for at least 3 weeks.

She will sit squarely and make sudden hiccuppy movements (contractions), then hunch up as if eating a poop and pull up the baby. She will then start to clean the baby. If there are too many you may have to help pierce the sacs. It's a quick process with little/no blood. If something seems wrong - call an EXOTICS vet.

You will not know. She might not say or do anything different. She may begin to nest or turn in circles, but most do not squeal or even appear to push. Mostly likely, you will come in the next morning after you suspect she is in labor and find little piglets running around the cage.

Labour is short/sudden (15-40 minutes) She will sit and make hiccuping sounds, (contractions), then bend under her as if to eat a poop and pull the baby out and start to clean it. If there is delay or lots of blood - get to an EXOTICS vet immediately.

It is quite hard to tell if a guinea pig is in labor. But you will notice that during the pregnancy she will sit near her food and water alot. The guinea pig will also let out a big squeak just before having the pups. Hope this was helpful!

Its hard to tell if a guinea pig is going into labor. She wont move more than she has to and usualy they have them during the night or early in the morning i had three guinea pigs and all of them had thir babys on a friday night.

She will start making a pain-like sound for several hours. You will see the babies moving wildly and she will move very slowly.

your guinea pig won't move as much as necessary don't handle pups 3-5 days. some perfer dark places. help mother by taking off the sac from each pup

if your ginea pig is rady to give birth it's pelvic bones wiLL seperrat and it will start being agry it will make a grating noows befor haveing the baby

You can't really tell when the guinea pig is in labour but about 24 hours before she gives birth there are two bones behind the vaginal opening that will separate about one finger length. This will let you know that the babies are coming soon. the birth happens very quickly and easily

You will notice her hunching over while giving birth, and they will come. She will lay down alot before giving birth, and may act a little like a jerk. Her pelvis will widen, and her bathroom patterns will change as well as her eating and drinking. Don't beworried ifshetriestobitethem. Shescleaningthem.

I am struggling to understand why anyone would want to do this.?? Putting a guinea through that would terrify them - they are a prey animal by nature and always need somewhere they can hide if they feel threatened - they are an animal, not an accessory !!
