How do I know if my electric meter works correctly?

I would contact the electric company and report the problem. You could try turning everything off and see if it is still turning.

First, I'de recommend walking out of your house, finding the meter, and see if the dial is moving. If it is moving then It is working. If it is not working, then you must call in the electric specailist recommended by the power company that you are with. I hope this helps!

if it is to your benefit,then do nothing,if it is overcharging you,have the power company check it. (i'm kidding at the beginning,have them check it either way. )

The electric company bills only for watt-hour not for volt or ampere. i. e. , volt x ampere. To check your meter, consider fan. study its ampere from handbook. multiply it with volt gives watt. use only fan for an hour and it reads same as product.
