I am considering getting an electric razor for my husband.

You get what you pay for. If you aren't willing to pay, you probably won't get a great razor. More expensive, better shave. Quality razors work absolutely fantastic.

I haven't found an electric razor yet that was worth bragging about. Now, my husband has a real thick head of italian hair! But it seemed to always feel like rough stubble. The more he would shave, the dirtier the bathroom would get. In the end it's just easier and cleaner to shave the old fashioned way.

Electric Razors typically work by a device that first lifts the facial hairs, and then a razor passes and cuts the lifted hair. The devices can work quite well, and if properly cleaned and lubricated can provide several years of service. A benefit is that they are less irritating for man who has more sensitive skin.

They can work well for some men, but many find that they simply do not shave as closely as traditional blade razors. Also, they has to be kept charged--something that can be frustrating if in a hurry.

That depends on the person using it. Its generally accepted that electric razors don't give as close a shave as a straight razor. However, for some people with certain facial hair types, I find that I can get a closer shave with less irritation using an electric. Besides, you simply can't beat the convenience. My shave takes 30 seconds!

See if he has used one before. Some men don't like how it shaves and would rather use a razor and shaving cream. Some men say the electric razor does not shave as close as the razor with shaving cream. This is like buy someone shoes and they don't like the style or fit.

From what I can tell they seem to work very well. My husband has always had one. You just have to remember to put the oil that comes with them in it regularly or it will break. Also beware of dropping them because it can damage the blade.
