If your burn feels better than it once was, its healing. Scab formation is most common in healing of burns. It will take a while though. Good luck!

If the the burn is turning from red to pink and the pain is less then before. Drainage is normal and will decrease as the burn is healing. Use Bacitracin on dressing, wrap lightly in 2 to 3 inch sterlle bandage keep it elevated.

Well if the burn is healing correctly, you will notice a change in your skin texture and color. The color should match the skin.

I usually know that my burn is healing correctly when the skin turns very dark and firm on the surface of the injury.

If you don't have any of the following then your burn should be healing correctly: Increased redness, abnormal swelling (some can occur if your burn is on the leg and you've been standing up for a period of time), odor, fever or increased drainage from the site or change in color of drainage.

With first and second-degree burns you will see skin pigment changes or blistering around the wound. Cover the burn with sterile gauze bandage that is wrapped loosely. Do daily dressing changes. Watch for signs of infection, increased pain, redness, swelling, or oozing. Consult doctor if any of these occur.

If the burn still looks healthy, meaning it is not turning funny colors, it is healing. It will puss clear liquid, which also means it's healing. Get silver sulfate!

First few days you will have pain on the affected part and if there is relief in your pain thereafter, you can be sure that your burn is healing gradually. If the skin has burnt off, you can observe that the skin started covering the burnt part. Don't keep the burn tightly wrapped with a bandage.
