the switch can be installed simply by connecting the earth wirng and the other two wires to the required ones. but before doing this the connections has to be checked if they are working or not.

Depending on the brand of the trasfer switch you would have to follow the directions of that brand because every brand is different. But to start you would have to bring power from the main service then you would have to run power to generator. After you would have to go with what the brand that you purchesed.
