position your front speakers on either side of the tv place the center speaker on or under the tv and the rear speakers behind the couch then wire it up

First off, you need to have surround speakers, a good amplifier so that the proper signals are transmitted to the right speakers. A good set of speakers will have a bass speaker, a center speaker, two front speakers and two rear speakers. Your player will then be hooked up to the amplifier for transmitting.

If you have a color coded surround system then you just have to match up the colors. If not, you're in for some work.

You need to have the main master speaker and have other speakers connected to it called the slaves. The master speaker is where you plug/play whatever you are going to play in. Then the surround sound kicks in.
