Generally speaking, a bruise in the intercostal space is no different than a bruise anywhere else, you will just have to limit activity and wait for it to heal.

Bruised intercostal muscles need iced and rested. A rib belt should be used until the pain subsides. Over the counter anti inflammatory medicine may be taken. Avoid any painful activity.

This is the same as any other bruise. You can treat with ice packs for the first couple of days which will help the pain. Then rest until you heal.

you need to ice the damaged area for around 48 hours or untill the pain subsides. you should also refrain from any activities that will agravate the injury. doing proper exercises like periodic deep breathing may alleviate the bruise. using a rib pad to minamize movement of the rib cage might also help.

Rest is a great muscle injury healer. Simply laying off an intercostal muscle will often rejuvenate it to where it was pre-injury.
