Make sure you have plenty of time and patience. Get a good book, prepare a quiet place, learn about crate and potty training. This is a longterm, hardwork investment.

You want to do the shopping for the new puppy before the puppy comes home. He will need a bed, treats, chew toys, a crate, collar, leash, and grooming tools.

Plan how you will supervise your puppy, make a feeding schedule, and make time to take him out a lot. Check to make sure plants are not poisonous to dogs. Get everything you need, such as the right size crate, food, and toys.

First off you need to make sure you are ready for a new puppy and a commitment of 10-15 years of caring for the dog. Before you bring a puppy home, you need to make sure you have the all the supplies you will need, such as puppy food, bowls, leashes, a crate, etc.

Visit your veterinarian, who will likely have material on the subject. Invest in an appropriate-sized crate for housing training; it's the only way. Find out about puppy schools/obedience training. Be ready for some sleepless nights, an occasional chewed shoe and a potty accident or two. Be patient, be prepared. You will get out of it only what you put in.

You will need a bed, toys, collar, tag, leash, bowls, food, treats and crate. Also you need to contact local vet for shots and regular visits.
