The easy answer is to find someone who you know will give you a good one and ask them. Get it, and keep copies to use when you need it.

The easiest way is to simply ask your direct supervisor. Keep in mind many companies have policies about not giving out references.

First I would go network with people who are in the field of the job that you are interested in. Then after you have met some people you can share some information about yourself and how you are interested in their field.
