It is curable, and I would recommend going to a dermatologist. They will be able to identify the source of the dandruff. They will also let you know if your case is severe enough to prescribe a prescriptive shampoo to clear it up. You may be able to handle it with over the counter shampoo as well.
The cheapest, easiest way to get rid of dandruff is to use a dandruff shampoo and conditioner. Head and Shoulders is the most common shampoo, plus many pharmacies carry other, stronger brands that may work even better.
