You'll go through a pre-med or equivalent program, then go to a med school, internship and residency program with a specialty in anatomical or clinical pathology.

A pathologist is a physician, either an M. D. or D. O. There are a number of related positions that require a technical or bachelor degree, or higher.

A pathologist is a medical doctor who has specialized in pathology. You need to obtain a college degree, be admitted to and successfully complete medical school, and then complete a residency. Admission to pathology residencies is very competitive, so you will need to have done well in medical school.

You can be a medical pathologist (diseases in people) or a veterinary pathologist (diseases in animals). For both you will need an undergraduate degree, either veterinary or medical school following the undergrad degree, and education beyond (often a Ph. D. ) for a specialization in pathology.
