Contact the Filipino Embassy about requirements for immigration. You will be required to apply first for a visa and then follow the process for residency.

In order to aquire a permanent resident visa in the Philippines you would first have to go to the immigration agency and file a request to become a citizen of the Philippines, which may take some time. Then you would have to get a passport if you don't already have one. Be sure to fill out the paperwork carefully.

US citizens require a valid passport, with a valid Visa which is good for 6 months. Check with the Embassy of the Philippines for correct Visa since you plan on staying longer than 6 months. The Visa is stamped for 21 days upon arrival. If you plan on staying longer, you must check with the Bureau of Immigration
