The most common solution would be install the proper drivers on your computer. Go to the HP website and search for the correct drivers. Another issue might be that your printer is out of toner. If it is, purchase new toner from any office supply store.

Make sure the computer recognizes the printer and that it is online. Reinstall the driver, replace ink or toner cartridges. Test the printer on a different computer. Some printers have a test mode that will print out diagnostic sheet. Use that to determine if it a PC or printer problem.

Try running the troubleshooting program that came with the printer. If not available, check all power and communication connections. Ensure you have installed the proper drivers for the printer within your operating system. Check for any paper jams, empty toner, or empty paper trays that could be causing the problem.

Try reinstall the drivers. Check the cable that leads to the computer, to be connected. If after the reinstallation of the drivers the printer won't work, and you have double-checked the cable try buyng a new data-cable. Also verify if the cartrige of the printer is empty. You can verify this from your computer (check printer's instrucions)

Well the problem is delicate, because it may be the software or the hardware, if it's the software, you can try reinstalling it with the help of the instructions provided with the cd, if the problem is from the printer itself, you better go to an expert, because it may have something broken in it.

Try to troubleshoot the problem on the internet. If it is not being recognized by your computer, it is most likely incompatible drivers. Also, make sure all the cables are plugged into the right ports and all software that came with the printer has been installed.

Try restarting the printer. Check if all movable parts are correctly in place. Update the printer driver. If nothing helps, send it in to the manufacturer for repair.

HP has toolbox or control application, click in and look what problems is. Out of paper, paper jam, cartridge end. Usually you may find it left down corner or somewhere on Start menu under HP stuff. Some printer has LCD screen and there may have clues what is wrong.
