The easiest way to compress WAV files for PowerPoint, or any reason for that matter, is a download program called Audacity. It's free, just Google search it. Then, open audacity, click file, open, find the WAV you need. Then just hit file, export as MP3, and it'll do the rest.
Just google search Step by Step Guide on How to Compress Audio WAV, MP3, FLAC, WMA, M4A, AIFF, PCM and etc?
