Find an empty spot on your desktop and right click then properties. When the window pops up click on the appearance tab and you will see three drop down options along with a preview. The Windows XP styles usually come in three options (blue, silver, olive). In windows Classic you have more options but less polished look.

Right-click the desktop and select Properties. Find the Appearance tab and you can select different schemes. You should be able to download more if you don't find one you like.

On the desktop screen, right click and go to Properties, then go to the tab that says "Appearance. " That should give you the options to change the color.
