You must wait until the flowering stalk has shed its flower and turned brown before taking the following steps. Take a sharp knife and cut off the flowering stem at its base, roughly an inch from the dirt. The cut stem will begin to fade, this is normal. The stem will now beging to grow back as normal.

After the blooming ends, you need to cut off the spike down to about half an inch from the foliage. Orchids like cool temperatures at night and this assists with the new bloom. Don't feed the plant until late spring - once it becomes late April, you can start using fertilizer to assist with growth.

This is a normal part of the plants life cycle and might be noticeable to you but is just another day in the life of an orchid. Do not make any dramatic changes other than gradual water reduction.

Once the flowers have fallen off, you will need to spray it everyday with an orchid solution you prepared based on Orchid food instructions. This keeps it healthy and fed.

You can repot your orchid or cut the flower stem above its first node. In order for it to bloom again the next year, you should put it outside in cool weather for 10-15 nights. This should ensure a few new flowers by the following February/March. Water once weekly in cool weather and twice during summer months.

You don't do anything different for it without flowers than you do when it has flowers when it doesn't have flowers is when the plant rejuvinates itself.

Do not change anything you are currently doing in my experiance they will go back to the root replenish themselves and then grow and flower again and they are gorgeous every time you can also ask your local nursery about it they would be able to tell you the time it would take for it to complete its cycle.
