My dog also has been diagnosed with an ear infection. My vet prescribed medication along with an ear wash solution. The ear wash has worked great! It has helped him stop itching and pawing at his ear. You should ask your vet if they think a wash might be beneficial to your lab. You could also consider buying an e-collar.

Be sure to keep the ear clean, either with medicine prescribed by the vet, or with alcohol. Clean the ear at least twice a day with either the medicine or alcohol and a cotton ball. Make sure to get as much dirt out of the ear as possible. If you have not consulted a vet, do so.

If your dog was diagnosed with an ear infection, you were given medicine to treat it. You must first clean the ears to remove the dirt and debris that collects in the ear canal. Your vet can show you how to do this so that you can get a clean surface for the medication.

keep him inside and put a few drops of baby oil every few hours or you can use regular human ear drops and keep the animal inside so you can monitor if it scratches at it
