It is best to take some business classes such as business or hospital administration. In some cases, these courses are not mandatory but they do certainly help. Also, if you can find a job at the hospital in another position you will already have your foot in the door once a job opens up.

To insure employment possibilities as a part of a hospitals administration you'll need at least 2 years of experience in a related field or a certificate. Many local colleges and trade schools offer courses for a certificate or degree in hospital administration and obtaining one would be your best choice.

Take a degree in hospital administration and/or public health, preferably an MBA. In the meantime, watch for openings in the administrative area of the hospital and take entry level positions in order to learn the various aspects of the operation. Very often, the administrative director is a physician with a broad background, but high level positions go to MBAs.

You should have some sort of business or healthcare background and start networking through groups such as HFMA (Healthcare Financial Managment Association). Also check websites for open positions.
