What is the definition of business administration?

My son wants to major in business administration and I don't really know what it is.

Business administration is a very broad term. It can be thought of by many different people in different ways, but mainly it is thought of as anything that can be considered business. From accounting to mangement, this can all be considered a part of it. A good major for someone who is not sure what they want to do.
