To be a literary critic, food critic, theater critic, design critic, movie critic, etc. , you must have an enormous and solid foundation in the field. Focus on learning as much as possible about your area of interest. Any critic must be able to compare and contrast, discuss trends and movements, and have vast knowledge of the history of the field.

Before you become a critic you have to learn the craft. Try and get an internship at the newspaper or magazine that you want to eventually work at. Read as much back issues as possible to get a feel for the tone of the paper and try writing sample articles.

The easiest way to become one is to start a blog or website and start critiquing. That way, you can build a name and possibly some ad revenue.
