A "water bath" means placing the item you are cooking in a larger pan of water. So, prepare the cheesecake as directed, in a spring-form or other baking pan, and place that pan in a larger baking pan that has about 1/2" of water in it. Check while baking to make sure that some water remains in the larger pan.

You take the pan that the cheesecake is in and you put that pan in a larger pan with an inch or two of water in it. You then bake the cheesecake as the recipe says to.

Place cheesecake in springform pan. Place springform pan inside crockpot liner or other waterproof liner, sealed according to instructions. Poach until firm.

Prepare your cheesecake and then wrap the pan in two layers of foil to prevent the water from getting in the pan. Place the pan in the other pan with the water and bake!

Baking something in a water bath just means that you put the dish you are baking, you cheesecake in its pan, in another larger dish which contains a modest amount of water. This will distribute heat better and also keep your food from burning.

As above, but make sure you wrap your springform pan, bottom and sides, in foil to ensure water doesn't get into the pan!
