How do I accomplish fiberglass boat deck repair?

I am accomplished at fiberglass car repair and motorcycle repair, but not boat deck repair, which is a specialty of a very few. Fortunately I am sitting next to a guy who said I can't type any more and I only get. 04 cents anyway, well, tough bozo.

buy liqiud fiberglass and keep aplying layers upon layrs (efter each layer dries) then sand down till it is nice and smooth and paint

Any kind of fiberglass repair is a multi step process that can't be explained in the room allowed here. I would recommend buying a fiberglass boat repair manual.
