This is all based on your own personal preferences. If you do this deck work yourself you only get one shot at it. Best advice is to hire a contractor.

Each grade of composite or plastic lumber decking has trade-offs of features versus cost. For instance, hidden fastening systems, cleanability, durability and local availability all vary considerably. Composites can not be used for load-bearing structures so steel, masonry or wood must still be used. Study your local suppliers offerings carefully.
