To run both linux, and windows platforms together you must create two partitions on your HD. When you do that when you boot your computer you will have the option to choose which one it is that you want to use. To run linux within windows, you must install a virtual Pc software that will allow you to do both.

The best way is to have two partitions on your computer's hard drive. Install Windows on one, and Linux on the other. Then, it can be set up so that you may choose which operating system to use, upon starting up your computer. A Linux-handy friend can probably guide you through all of this.

First you have to download a bootable ISO of a Linux distro, example Ubuntu. Next download and install a free virtual machine software such as VMWare Player. Use VMWare Player to create a Linux virtual machine using the bootable ISO file. Now you can run Linux as a virtual operating system within Windows.

First of all, they're two different operating systems.. You can is install both a Linux and Windows OS and choose which one you want to use when your computer is booting, or you can simply use a bootable Linux CD, insert it, restart, and your computer will do the rest.

There a couple ways. first way is to install a program like Virtual Box that runs on top of windows and allows you to run both at the same time. The other way is to use a live CD.

One option is to dual-boot it on your Windows machine. This will allow you the option to either boot to Windows or Linux upon startup. The other option is to run a virtualized copy of Linux using software like Virtual PC. This will allow you to run a whole second operating system in an application window.
