They are fairly easy to disassemble. Remove the top part first with the 4 bolts that secure it in back. Once in you can remove the cushioning to get to the internal mechanism. It is primarily bolts that hold it together with a few nails that hold the sides from falling apart.
Usually it's easy to take a Stratolounger apart. You should just be able to pull up on the back of it and should disassemble. Sometimes there are screws that need to removed or some buttons you have to push. Call a local furniture store for advice.
