This kind of printing is usually done in the Print Setup of the document that you are about to print. The Default setting would be "Color". However, if your change that setting into "Grayscale" then your would have a black only printing.

When you are ready to print, you go to file and then print so that you can get the options. Then you click properties and select to print black and white only or gray scale so that it will print with black ink only. This should help with your situation.

When you go to print a document, a dialog box appears on the monitor. This allows you to select quantity printed, print quality, etc. Select properties when the dialog box appears. Scroll down and select Print Black in black and white. On color printers this option is not default. Select ok and print the document.
