How can talking louder than usual result in an inflammation of the throat?

I am now sick following a heated discussion. Good thing I don't make my living as a singer!

Talking loudly or yelling at a concert require you to strain your throat and neck muscles more than you may be used to, just as your legs would be sore after a workout session that your body isn't used to. With overuse comes increased blood to the site, which can cause a small amount of swelling, thus the soreness.

Talking louder than usual can stress the larynx, which can result in a sore throat. People have different anatomies, so speaking loudly wouldn't affect everyone the same way. Consider that not everyone can sing, and those who sing loudly often develop vocal nodules from stresses their vocal chords.

Putting any kind of excessive stress on any part of your body will effect its functionality. I believe in your throat the multiple vibrations of the parts of the throat when raising your voice may have exhausted or irritated the inside.
