How can I treat sunburned lips?

The key is to keep them moisturized and protected. You can use basic petroleum jelly for the moisture, but should also use a lipbalm that includes sunscreen so you can avoid continued sun exposure. As they heal, you dial back on the petroleum jelly. Also be sure to drink plenty of fluids anytime you have a sunburn.

You should always put lipbalm when you are out in the sun. I use neomycin sulfate ointment on my lips to keep them moisturized all the time even night time after the sunburn, also put ice to lower the swelling.

Keep moist with alternating applications of vaseline petroleum jelly, triple antibiotic ointment, aloe vera gel (from natural plant leaf is best).

I use Neosporin cream for sunburnt lips. If you want a more natural approach, try mixing some honey and lime juice, and spread a thin amount of that concoction on the burnt areas.

I have the same issue and went to my DR who gave me a prescription but said chances are it wont help due to the fact that the sun blisters had already formed. He suggested drinking lots of fluids and getting chapstick with SPF in it.

Try pure olive oil. It worked for me in about 24 hours (keep reapplying), and it doesn't taste bad either. Just don't go back in the sun with it on.

speaking of oil im using baby oil because my sunburn is just above my lip and when it starts to peel the baby oil keeps it moisturized  add a comment

Sunburned lips can be treated with multiple applications of Vaseline and or chap stick. In order to prevent the onset of fever blisters you may consider placing pieces of ice on them as well. Other options would be moisturizing lip balm and lipstick, as well as Aloe Vera from a pure Aloe Vera plant.

use massive amounts and continual application of aloe vera. The green gels that they make are very cooling and soothing and speed up the healing process.

Use ice and keep them cold. You'll want to keep applying sunblock and moisterizer with aloe. Don't wipe them either! You don't want them to be dry!

Avoid butters or ointments which will aggravate your condition. Try finding pure aloe on your sunburned lips. Prevent more sun damage by apply a sunblock to your lips if you go outside again. Drink extra water, take Advil or aspirin, and apply cool compress to the lips to help with the pain.

I used Avbreva for the blisters & a carmax type tube for the pain. When the lip went down it crusted over with a scab. I used Vitamin E-oil on it which loosed up the scab which fell off ON ITS OWN. Keep it moist & SPF protected until healed.  add a comment
