Lockjaw can be a symptom of TMJ or tetanus. If tetanus, a vaccine is the best method of taking care of the problem. Therefore, seek medical assistance. If it is TMJ, ibuprofen and a heating pad will most help the discomfort. If not, medical assistance should be sought out.

Warm compressions can help. Talk to a doctor because sometimes impacted wisdom teeth could be causing the problem. Take anti-inflammatory medication to help with any inflammation. Ask your doctor if muscle relaxers will help you, they usually do. Light massage on the outside of your jawline can help.

I would consult your health care provider. Lockjaw could be the result of a serious condition such as a tetanus infection or other potentially hazardous situations. Have you cut yourself on anything outside like a piece of metal or an twig or branch? If so I would seek medical attention as soon as possible.

You will have to go to the denist to see what they can do for you. Or go to the doctor. But I think the denist would be the one to help, but not real sure. But I'd ask your doctor first and see what the doctor has to say.
